“Warm welcome, well worth the value”. The inscription on the façade of the Well Hotel Bangkok Sukhumvit 20 perfectly communicates our feeling once we got there.
In just a few months, this fairly new property (launched in early 2016) located in the heart of the vivid area of Sukhumvit has received a high rating from guests on some of the most important ranking websites, such as Booking.com and Trip Advisor. It therefore felt just right to spend our last days in Bangkok at this fantastic hotel.
The warm welcome – as clearly stated at the entrance to the hotel – upon our arrival was remarkable and the friendly staff went the extra mile to always make us feel at home. We truly enjoyed the treatment we received from the team. Another thing that we loved about the Well Hotel Bangkok was the concept of wellness throughout the stay.
We stayed in the Executive Room in the Memory Wing of the hotel. The room was great! There was lots of space, clean furniture, a fresh bright ambience and wellness. That’s right, wellness. All intended to make the guest feel at home and at the same time able to exercise in the comfort of their room.
So, comfort and fitness was ensured during our stay. Noah was the first one to test the exercise bike, but of course he was just playing. But what he liked the most was the gift that was on the bed for him – a small teddy bear, again, reminding us of the “warm welcome” inscription on the front of the building.
He loved the bear, and took it everywhere with him during our last stay in Bangkok. At the reception there’s a giant teddy bear that Noah had been playing with while we were checking in, so a small version for him to take home was great.
The team at the hotel was also kind enough to provide us with an extra bed for Noah, although the king size bed was big enough for the 3 of us. Even with the extra bed there was lots of space to exercise in the bedroom, in a sitting area next to the beds.
The bathroom was also really big, with a shower and a bath, and was located just next to the dressing area … Oh, did I forget to mention the dressing area?? As there was all that exercise equipment in the room, one thing that wasn’t missing was some scales in the bathroom. I wasn’t brave enough to weigh myself … I’ll leave that for when we return home in December.
We were supposed to spend our last 3 days in Thailand in another city, Pattaya, but our plans didn’t work out the way we wanted so we decided to stay in Bangkok, and for that reason we wanted to reserve 3 more nights at Well Hotel Bangkok. We reserved a Superior Room, but the team at the hotel was kind enough to upgrade us to the Executive Room, so we got to stay in the same room as we had on the first nights.
We took the opportunity to visit the other four types of room, which make up the 235 rooms and suites in the two wings of the hotel. Standard features can be found in all rooms, such as a mini bar, a safe, high speed Wi-Fi (which worked superbly all the time!) and a 46-inch smart TV. The Executive Rooms and Suites also have a Well Fit Box, exercise bike and scales, while the Executive Suites can include a microwave and printer upon request.
Every day we had a hearty breakfast at Eat Well Café, located on the ground floor. The breakfast buffet had many options of warm and cold dishes, fruit, yogurt, bread, croissants and juices.
In the mornings we usually had a great breakfast and later in the day we still weren’t hungry. We would then just eat again at night, after those long days enjoying the city and the pool.
We had dinner at The Twist Bar & Bistro, which is located just next to Eat Well Café. Both menus were varied and there were many healthy options with fresh ingredients among the western and eastern dishes.
All the dishes were delicious and, although there was a variety, Noah always asked for the Spaghetti Carbonara, one of his favorite dishes and one that he’s been having a lot lately. Thank goodness he is very energetic, as with all the running and jumping those calories are gone in no time.
One of the nights I had chicken with cashew nuts and rice, while Ruth had a Mexican chicken burger. Mine was very good and hers was amazing, but as she’s allergic to nuts she didn’t want to swap 🙂
We also ordered some food by the pool on some of the days. The weather was so good throughout our stay that we spent more time at the pool than we had expected.
The swimming pool was certainly the facility we enjoyed the most, and particularly Noah. He learned to swim just 3 months ago while we were in Bali, and over the past few months he has improved his skills a lot – so much so that we were impressed when he did 6 laps of the pool all by himself. I swear we didn’t push him … He wanted to swim. We are proud parents 🙂
The pool was also the place where we met a really nice family from Brazil. They were also staying at the hotel for a few days and Gustavo and Samantha had a cute daughter, Ceci, who became friends with Noah immediately. Noah got to play with her on 2 of the nights when we met by the pool. It was really nice meeting them and it was just unfortunate that we didn’t have a chance to spend more time with them. We’re sure we will definitely meet again somewhere around the globe soon though.
Apart from the pool, the hotel also has a fully equipped gym, a fitness area (where guests can try Muay Thai classes) and a Spa.
Speaking of the spa, we had the chance to try a 15-minute massage at Well Spa, which was amazing but short 🙂 The staff is really friendly and we can certainly recommend one of the options they offer at Well Spa as ideal therapy.
Really well located in the heart of Bangkok, in the fashionable area of Sukhumvit, Well Hotel Bangkok is very near to Asok BTS Skytrain station and not too far from Sukhumvit MRT metro station. It was the ideal place during this stay in Bangkok.
The area is famous for its clothing shops and shopping malls like Terminal 21. Other parts of Bangkok are also easily accessible from there.
We enjoyed every little bit of the hotel, but the service and care we received from the staff was remarkable. Everyone at reception, the supervisors, the staff in the restaurants and the spa … We really don’t have any complaints, just compliments.
The hotel’s concept of wellness and lifestyle is also very original and many of the facilities, furniture and amenities take that into consideration. Add to that the comfort and luxury that the hotel has to offer and you surely have one of the best hotels for families in Bangkok.
Many thanks to Mandy for the warm treatment at all times, even prior to our arrival, and to the whole team for taking care of us.
