Animal Kingdom experience – one of the four theme parks at World Disney World in Orlando – is a much smaller park than Magic Kingdom. We therefore weren’t too concerned about arriving there late, but we shouldn´t have arrived as late as we did. It was almost 1 o´clock when we left our car at the parking lot, and from there we took a free train ride to the entrance of the park.
As we had our selfie stick with us, we were asked to leave it at the security point until the end of the day.
Animal Kingdom experience is very different from the Magic Kingdom experience. This is a park that kids enjoy a lot because of the animals and because there are not many height restrictions. As we did not plan our day there we feel that perhaps we did not enjoy the park to the maximum.
At the entrance we collected the activity book to complete during the day, called Wilderness Explorers. This is a book with quizzes and activities, and as you fill it in during the day you collect several badges. Noah was very excited about it.
Since we do not plan our day properly (due to our lack of experience) we missed some activities that we would have been interesting such as the Rafiki’s Planet Watch with its Wildlife Experience Train and the Gorilla Falls Trail Expedition. Nevertheless we visited many attractions mentioned below, all of which that Noah could be take part without problems.
In the Boneyard kids can unearth the remains of a mammoth.
Fossil Fun Games is a playground with slides between dinosaur fossils.
TriceraTop Spin was the attraction that Noah liked the most during our Animal Kingdom experience, so while we were waiting to go to the Jungle of Book show of lights, we took the advantage that this attraction was almost empty and went there three times.
DINOSAUR we thought it would be one of the attractions that Noah would enjoy a lot, but it was too dark for his taste and when a huge Tyrannosaurus Rex appeared it was a bit too much for him.
Finding Nemo – The Musical. Noah was delighted with this adaptation of the famous Disney movie.
In Maharajah Jungle Trek we had a good time walking and watching jungle animals such as in the bird section.
From Kali River Rapids we don ‘t have pictures, but we can just tell that we ended up soaked in this attraction…. refreshing moment for a very hot day
Adventurers Outpost where we met Mickey and Minnie Mouse with Fast Pass.
Festival of the Lion King – The Musical. Amazing Broadway-style show.
It´s tough to be a Bug is a movie that we missed I’m afraid… And we had a Fast Pass for it.
At Kilimanjaro Safaris you go in a jeep to see lions, giraffes, zebras,…
The Jungle Book: Alive with the Magic. This is a lovely and unique spectacle on the water.
When we were leaving the park, fortunately Ruth forced me 🙂 to wait a little longer (even though Noah and I were very tired …), since she wanted to see the main tree of the park… Just a few minutes later the tree started another impressive light show, giving also the impression that some animals carved into the trunk came alive.
We arrived late, but we also left late. Noah enjoyed his Animal Kingdom experience a lot, but we were surprised that he still had some energy at the end of the day. I think he was just excited about what he was going to experience the next day at Legoland. Ruth and I also enjoyed it, but perhaps not as much as Lego and Magic Kingdom, part of our next articles.
Next stop Legoland!
