A Magic day at Magic Kingdom

This is written at the entrance of Magic Kingdom: “We believe in our idea: a family park where parents and children could have fun together“. This sentence from Walt Disney says everything about our feelings and those of many other families at Magic Kingdom that day. It was a very hot day and we knew that we would be sweating all day long, but what the heck! We were determined to make this our best day in Orlando. We were in the largest and most famous theme park in the world and we wanted to have the best possible experience.

After visiting other parks in Orlando that week we had finally got the hang of it and we were able to enjoy it a lot. Firstly we arrived early – for us … 🙂 🙂 It was not just before the park opened but at least it wasn’t too late.

Family Travel Secrets
As we have mentioned in the other articles, make sure that you arrive just before Magic Kingdom opens its doors. Remember there are many people staying at the Disney resort and they arrive at the park first thing. That way you have more of a chance of enjoying the most sought-after attractions in the park and avoiding the long queues during the day.

Upon arrival there is a train that took us from the parking lot to the entrance to the park. It only takes 5 minutes, but that can save you some time and protect you a bit from the heat. Then there is a security check to ensure that you are not carrying any forbidden objects.

Family Travel Secret
Needless to say you cannot carry any harmful objects inside the park, but also make sure that you don´t take a selfie stick with you. You won´t be able to enter the park with it.

Then there are still about two kilometers before you go through the main entrance to the Magical Kingdom. You can choose to either take the train or the boat, and of course both are free of charge. We took the train and finally arrived at the main entrance.

We won´t be detailing each and every attraction, because firstly it´s an experience that we recommend our readers have and secondly the pictures speak for themselves. But we can say one thing … it is amazing!!!

Family Travel Secrets
If you purchase your ticket for Magic Kingdom with the fast pass, we strongly advise that the first thing you do upon entering the park is select your three attractions. If you have a package for staying at one of the Disney Resorts you can book the fast pass up to 60 days in advance.

The fast pass attractions run out really quickly so if you are lucky you will still have the chance to choose some of the good ones. Remember when we told you to arrive at the park early in the morning? That´s one of the reasons 🙂 .

Our route through the Magic Kingdom was:

The Magic Carpets of Aladdin

Jungle Cruise (using our first fast pass … not really worth it, but it was the only one available)

Splash Mountain (Noah and myself were on the Walt Disney World Railroad and in the meantime Ruth was in the queue). We don´t have pictures of this one, but you may get soaked or just wet and it is a nice roller coaster.

IMG_2542

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (using a Fast Pass)… We’ve been there three times that day (two of which using Fast Pass). That was one of the attractions that Noah… and ourselves… enjoyed the most at Magic Kingdom.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train… we were in the queue for almost 2 hours ( as we were not able to use our Fast Pass), but it was entertaining.

Mickey´s PhilharMagic

Peter Pan´s Flight (Using a Fast Pass) It is a quiet attraction, but magical, as you feel like you are flying on Captain Hook´s boat.

Just make sure you reserve a spot close to the castle on Main Street U.S.A before 20:00 for the parade at 21:00. This is one of the best places to see the the shows - Main Street Electrical Parade, Celebrate the Magic and Wishes night-time spectacular - from 21:00 to 22:15 at Magic Kingdom... and obviously is full well before the show starts.

Family Travel Secrets
A nice way to enjoy Disney's Magic Kingdom in the evening is to watch in sequence the Main Street Electrical Parade, Celebrate the Magic and the Wishes night-time spectacular, and still enjoy some more attractions thereafter, before the park closes.

As a bonus we let Noah choose the attractions that he liked the most at Magic Kingdom, so we could use our 2 last fast pass tickets. We therefore went back to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (using a Fast Pass, as even though it was after 22:15 it was full of people) and to Mickey´s PhilharMagic (a 3D Donald Duck show).

IMG_3311

After visiting three parks in the same week we can say that we could organize ourselves to go to almost all attractions in Magic Kingdom with Noah… It is also because it was Wednesday and it was not “so full” … we prefer not even imagine a Saturday there… But after all we missed out Space Mountain… not bad for some amateurs in Disney 🙂

To finish our long day at Magic Kingdom we had dinner at Cosmic Ray´s Starlight Café, at which point Noah gave up and fell asleep. It was a long day for him, but definitely one that he won´t forget.
