Monument Valley is a treasure guarded by the Navajo Indians in Utah. Those rock formations are simply amazing and it is certainly a place to be visited.
In the morning we had been visiting Arches National Park and we decided that we could continue our route towards the south of Utah. On the way we passed some incredible scenery and a town, Bluff, that turned out to be a real surprise (although we weren’t able to stop).
As Monument Valley is not a National Park, we could not benefit from the ‘America The Beautiful’ annual pass that has taken us into several of the beautiful National Parks in the US. But that did not stop us going there.
One of the cartoons that Noah likes a lot is Cars, and the landscape in this cartoon is based on Monument Valley, so he got to see where McQueen and Sally met. Children enjoy this place as well as adults.
It was simply marvelous and quite unique coming across one rock formation after another in that plain landscape.
The Mittens
The Elephant Butte
Three Sisters
John Ford’s Point
We particularly enjoyed the sunset at Artist’s Point.
After exploring several landmarks in the park, we went back to the Visitor Centre where the park’s hotel is also located.
North Window
We had such an enjoyable day at Monument Valley, and it was one that the three of us enjoyed equally.
Next stop, Lower Antelope Canyon!
