Hong island and surrounding islands in Thailand

The next day we were all set to go to the Hong Island and by coincidence we did the tour with William and his partner – a couple whom we’ve met when we arrived in Thailand. The sky was not clear and we knew that at some point it would start raining, so we had to enjoy every single moment of good weather while it lasted.

Then there was the option of going to the Phi Phi Islands, but in the end we booked a tour that took us to the Hong Islands for almost the whole day.

Our plan was to go to Maya Bay, but we were informed that the Beach would probably be full of people (this is the time of the year when a lot of people come from China) and getting onto the beach would not be easy. Plus, due to the rain, it turned out that we had to change our plans dramatically.

Family Travel Secret
Maya beach is the famous and beautiful beach where Leonardo di Caprio shot the film The Beach. It became very popular after that movie, but that’s not always a good thing, as it means that it attracts thousands of visitors every month.

Our tour through Hong Island

The boat’s first stop was at Red Island. There we had the chance to snorkel and swim a bit. We had the floats so even Noah was swimming solo.

We were surrounded by fish that didn’t seem scared  by our presence.

After a short time we were ready to go to the next stop, which was Paradise island. We didn’t stay long there either, and although it was also beautiful it was full of boats and people, which diminished the natural beauty we would have liked to have seen.

This was also the place where we had our improvised lunch organized by the tour company.

From there we went to Hong Lagoon for a short, slow tour around the islands, and afterwards (when the rain stopped) to the beach located next to it, Hong Island.

We spent the most time at Hong Island, and it was the place we enjoyed the most. Although it was full of people, once again we had crystal clear waters and fine white sand. The two hours we spent there were a treat for us and, although it rained a bit, the setting was just beautiful.

The stop in Krabi was totally worth doing, and after having had a glimpse of what we would see in Thailand when we returned from Japan, the next day we were ready to travel to Kuala Lumpur for 3 nights.
