Gardens by the Bay in Singapore is the most amazing botanical garden in the entire world. It boasts a beautiful environment, and costs roughly $1 to get in.
There was definitely nothing boring about our visit to the botanical gardens. Every detail catches visitors’ attention. We had the option to spend about S$24 to get in to the conservatories, but didn’t bother. Remember, we did our trip on a budget 🙂
The Dragonfly Bridge connects the Marina Bay Sands hotel to the entrance of Gardens by the Bay. We’d already seen some pretty great views from there!
When we got to the bottom of the gardens, Noah started to enjoy himself more and more. After all, a place full of gardens to play in and lots of space to run around and pretend to be in the woods – this was the moment he’d been waiting for.
There are roughly 10 separate gardens, each with its own theme, that surround the Supertrees. We enjoyed the Chinese and Indian gardens the most, but the others were also very beautiful.
And then right there in the middle of the park was Supertree Grove, the garden’s most famous area. The Supertrees are several gigantic artificially built trees. They’re between 25 to 50 meters tall, and were created so that plants could grow up them to the top – creating a natural environment with a blend of the artificial. It’s the point where man meets nature.
We planned to come back to that part of the Gardens by the Bay later on, so we continued walking around the park.
We reached the Conservatories – the Flower Dome and the Cloud Forest – a little while later.
The Flower Dome exhibits plants and flowers from the Mediterranean and Semiarid regions, while the Cloud Forest exhibits tropical plants from the highlands up to 2000 meters above sea level.
By that point, we were really close to the Far East Organization Children’s Garden. We planned to see those gardens for Noah, but we ended up enjoying them as well! 🙂
This is a ludic place where children interact with water and nature in a very enjoyable environment. We spent the entire time playing in the water. We spent almost 2 hours there, and Noah had a lot of fun!
But there was still more left to see. We sat right in the middle of the Supertrees at dusk, where we patiently waited for the “Garden Rhapsody”, a spectacle of lights and music coming out from the trees. It was great!
There was a lot more to do in the Gardens, but our day there was over. We planned to come back the next day though to see the Garden Rhapsody again and to enjoy a bit more of the park.
We had an awesome time at the Gardens by the Bay!
